The phone stays in the pocket

Lauma now runs on Garmin, Apple and Android watches, and that changes the hunt: the dogs and the party are on your wrist and the phone stays in the pocket. The testers' feedback decides what we build: safety, your own places and the Swedish maps are now in the app.

Lauma now works on the three most common watches: Garmin, Apple Watch and Android watches. The Garmin app is in Garmin's app store, and the Apple and Android watches get theirs with the Lauma app.

Three watches, one dog: the arrow turns with the wrist.

The hunt from the wrist

The watch changes tracking more than we expected. The phone hardly ever needs to come out of the pocket: the wrist shows every dog and every member of the party, each with a name, an arrow, a distance and a compass bearing, and a moving dog's speed too. The arrow points the right way as you turn on the spot, just like a compass.

When a dog barks or points, the watch alerts and shows where to go.

The watch also shows the other hunters in the party, the same way as the dogs: a name, an arrow and a distance. A hunter on a stand sees from the wrist which way the handler is coming from and how far away they are, and the handler sees where the stands are. A button press moves to the next dog or the next hunter.

The phone still does the work in the pocket: it talks to the personal node and the cloud and passes the watch what is worth looking at. There is nothing to set up on the watch.

The feedback decides what we build

Several parties test Lauma all the time, and it shows in what we build: the order of development comes straight from the feedback out of the forest. The three most requested things are now in the app:

The Swedish topographic map in the app, around Kiruna.

The next things come the same way: tell us what is missing in the forest.

More parties, more devices

The group of users grows steadily, and new test devices leave for parties all the time. One batch on the table before packing: collars, personal nodes and cloud nodes, one set per party.

One batch of test devices on its way to parties.
